Personal accident cover for bodily injury

Personal Accident Insurance
You can insurance your body against risks and personal injury

You may well already have Personal accident cover without you even knowing it !

In the UK Personal Accident Insurance PAI is most often sold as a bolt on option or risk to a variety of insurance policies and it is highly likely you have some form of PAI cover operating for you at this moment without you realising it.
Before you rush out and buy PAI you should consider the elements of cover that you may already have under the policies listed below, and also assess your own individual risk - after all, most accidents which cause injuries are a result of the type and number of risks to which we all expose ourselves.

The following policies may afford some level of personal accident insurance. You should check the extent of the cover and the limits of indemnity (what they'll pay out for in event of a successful claim)

1. Your Car Insurance policy. All car insurance policies in the UK, by law, include personal accident and injury cover for yourself and third parties for any accident involving you and your car..
2. Your Home Insurance policy. Depending upon the extent of cover you may well have bodily injury covered under the basic home contents cover or included seperatly as an additional risk. You should check the wording and policy exclusions for any personal accident insurance cover which may be included.
3. Any PAI policy you bought as a condition of your Mortgage or may be included combined with endowments etc.
4. Check your Credit Cards - many offer PAI as a benefit!
5. Travel Insurance - All travel insurance policies contain a large element of PAI. If you have purchased annual travel insurance or have this included under a 'gold credit card ' for example, you should check the limits and benefit levels.
6. Any Life Insurance policy that may contain a personal accident and injury insurance section.
7. Your Work - Many employer, particularly in the state sector offer group personal accident cover.
8. Your Lifestyle. Many organisations or clubs you may belong to provide basic personal accident and injury cover, specific to the risks that the organisation is exposed to. For example, the local football team will have a basic level of PAI cover in place under their FA compulsory for members, football insurance scheme. This minimum level of cover will not however protect you should you have a serious injury, and you should seriously consider purchasing both sports personal accident insurance cover and some income protection or other ASU product to cover your lifestyle costs. Clearly you need to assess the risks that both your job and lfestyles exposes you to and arrange adequate cover to recompense you should the worst occur.

Most personal accident policies only pay out a fixed sum in event of injury to specific parts of your body. more importantly it is wise to take provision for your future and to protect your lifestyle should you become incapacitated.

To provide cover for these lifestyle threatening events we offer Personal Accident Lifestyle Cover for
income protection
mortgage payment protection
loan payment protection

The premium you pay will depend on the amount of cover you need, the type of cover you choose, how long you want to wait before you receive benefits and how many months you would like the policy to pay out for.

Injury Insurance
Personal Injury insurance policies are mainly designed to cover losses to your body parts and some elements of the above. Sports Accident insurance provides protection if you are injured playing amateur sports

Private health insurance contains elements of the above but is mainly designed to cover the costs of hospitalisation and treatment of injury and disease.

Cover is provided for personal accidents leading to injury and disability, sickness or illness leading to disability and inability to work and unemployment.

Additional risks such as the cost of long term illness or death are covered by critical illness cover and life assurance respectively.
Many people will require a combination of the types of protection policies available here, depending upon individual assessment and exposure to risks. All policies can be extended to cover other family members, which often reduces the overall cost of accident protection.
